05 — The problem
The challenge was simple to describe and difficult to solve: build a large-format camera system capable of recording an entire dialogue-driven feature.
LOADING TRANSPORT
The camera is generated at runtime rather than loaded as a model, so it needs a browser with WebGL 2 enabled. The written text below describes every part.
15-perforation · 65 mm · 24 fps
A machine built to capture cinema at its largest scale.
01 — The format
Fifteen-perforation large-format film moves more than five feet every second. Its scale creates extraordinary image detail—and extraordinary mechanical noise.
02 — Assembly
Scroll to separate the machine. Scroll back to close it. Hover a label to isolate that part.
03 — The noise problem
Large-format film moves fast, and fast film is loud. The solution is a heavy acoustic enclosure engineered to make dialogue recording possible.
04 — The mirror solution
When the acoustic enclosure blocks direct eyelines, a twin-mirror system can redirect the actors’ view while the camera remains between them.
05 — The problem
The challenge was simple to describe and difficult to solve: build a large-format camera system capable of recording an entire dialogue-driven feature.
